LOVING PROMISES: The Master Class For Creating Magnificent Relationship - REVIEWS

I was skeptical when I saw this book advertised and then remembered hearing the name of the author somewhere. When I looked him up on line my interest grew in opening the book on Amazon and reading the first few pages. It was well written and engaging so I bought it. Probably one of the best purchases of late. That skepticism I felt when I started reading dissipated into something that I found intriguing: a light heartedness. Why, I wondered would this book make me feel that way when I’ve read so many books about improving relationships? I think it’s because it resonates authentic. A reader can sense these things. A reader can feel if an author’s words are vapid or heartfelt; at least this reader can. I went to bed reading this and woke up the next day excited to get back to it; feeling hopeful that in it there would be kernels of wisdom, and loving suggestions, that would set off that ah-ha light bulb. It did that, many times. I read and skipped ahead to Matzkin’s wife’s story, which he suggests the reader does; it’s at the end of the book. And then I went back to read the book from cover to cover. What they have together is a gift of a lifetime and what Matzkin does in his book is manage to bestow to his readers some of the things he has learned while living and loving his wife Alice. Ultimately what did I take away from this read? I was reminded once again of two of my favorite quotes: one from Gandhi and the other from Viktor Frankl and I paraphrase them both. Be the change you want the world to be and you can have everything taken from you but what you make your attitude. Matzkin does a beautiful job in his book of bringing home these points. Well worth the purchase and read.

This book touched my heart! Matzkin slowly leads his reader to a sacred place where they can find some answers and cures for their wounded souls. Once I started reading the book I couldn't let it go. The language was so coherent and fluent. I felt as if the words had a power to light the path to the next level of understanding. It helped me to go deeper inside. Thank you for writing this book and sharing your experiences.about the deepest incarnation of love.

A deeply fulfilling read. Loving Promises by Richard Matzkin examines what authentic, mature love looks and feels like. Strikingly comprehensive and universally applicable, it is also told in a way that is tremendously personal. Based on what the author has learned through past relationships and his own successful marriage, he shares what it takes to get to and remain in a state of love while living in the rough and tumble of the real world. As Matzkin writes, “Loving deeply and well requires…a level of emotional intellectual and spiritual maturity. Maturity is grounded in autonomy.”
The author's explanations and advisories reflect both the individual autonomy and absolute alignment that he and his wife, Alice, live today in their relationship. It is refreshing to see a love that is layered, intricate, and nuanced. In a manner that is both compassionate and revelatory, Richard covers each aspect of love, offering a vision is complete and sound, one that is strong enough to withstand all the processes of the heart. Whether single or in a relationship, readers can come away from Loving Promises with a greater appreciation of love and life. Would be great as a reading circle book or a book that could generate positive discussion among couples.
